This place is outstanding. Pool was nice and cold, perfect after a hot day hiking, really felt like we learnt the privilege to splurge on decent accommodation. Beds were great, could have slept all day. Breakfast was good too. Staff friendly and helpful turning on hot tub in the morning

The view of the hotel was the highlight of our stay and quite extraordinary. However, the hotel is very old and is in great need of refurbishment. The rooms are very old looking and the walls are so thin, you can hear your neighbours talk. The food was really quite bad. I had a vegetarian lasagna and could not even eat it as it was swimming in fat and just did not look nor tasted like a lasagna. The only dishes that were good were with meat but they are too big for one person. We stayed 3 nights and could not wait to get out of that place. I would strongly recommend to stay in the village and walk up to the hotel which is a very nice hike, spend an hour or 2 then walk back down. But the hotel itself is not worth staying in.

While we didn't stay overnight, our experience at Estalagem Eira do Serrado was still noteworthy. The primary draw of this establishment is undeniably the breathtaking views and the tranquil ambiance it offers. Perched on a mountainside, the panoramic vistas from Estalagem Eira do Serrado are nothing short of spectacular. During our visit, we had the pleasure of performing at a private event held at this venue, and it was a memorable experience. The serene surroundings and the sense of calm that envelopes you make it an ideal location for special occasions and gatherings. It's worth noting that while the focus here is primarily on the view and the tranquility, the staff we interacted with were professional and accommodating, further enhancing our visit. In summary, Estalagem Eira do Serrado may not have been our overnight lodging, but it left a positive impression. The place is truly worth a visit, if only for the awe-inspiring views and the peaceful atmosphere that envelops you, making it an ideal spot for a serene getaway or private events.

Room is clean but noisy. Restaurant is horrible, by far the worst food I’ve had on the island. Breakfast bad too, bad coffee and unbaked bread. The view is nice. Would not recommend to eat or sleep here.

The view is incredible. The beds are comfortable. Apart from that a pretty awful experience. The staff are unwelcoming and unprofessional, you’re basically made to feel as if you’re trapped here so they can try to get as much money as possible out of you before you escape. The service is almost aggressive at times. The spa is terrible, it smells strongly of chlorine, the pool is waist deep and cold, apparently a swimming cap is required for this even though you’d struggle to get your hair wet. You have to ask reception to turn on the bubbles on the hot tub, which is the only thing that’s included in your hotel spa experience. The sauna and steam room are not turned on and when I asked them to do so they said it was 10 euros per person (twice the price that’s stated in their hotel brochure) something that was not made clear when we booked our ‘hotel spa’. When I complained about the sauna charge I was told it was due to the war in Ukraine! The gym is even worse than in the pictures they’ve removed the weights so it’s basically a running machine and a bike. The breakfast is cold, even the cooked breakfast. When things run out they generally don’t get replaced so get there early we didn’t even realise there was a fruit section on the first morning as it was gone when we got there. The walls are also very thin in the rooms so we didn’t get much sleep as you can hear everything going on in the hotel. Super disappointed with this place, we were blown away when we arrived as the location’s so spectacular but it goes downhill fast once you enter the building.

This is a review of the souvenir shop, it offers a lot of different things, which is nice. But as you might expect it’s overpriced. The actual negative thing about it was, that the personal said prices which weren’t right. And it took a lot of effort to clarify it. Finially we could get it for the price she said but took us half an hour.

This review is about the restaurant. It's aweful. 2 stars only for the view. The soup was very average, the tuna salad was not edible. Waste of money. The service was strange and there was an unpleasant "hotel" smell in the restaurant of some cleaning supplies or smth. If you want to eat here-please don't.

Some of the best views I’ve ever had in a hotel. Beautiful views from your room of the nuns valley and our room and a nice little balcony area to sit in. I think all rooms are on the view facing side as well. The restaurant was decent and also has the nice views. Probably my favourite hotel we stayed at in Madiera
